Cimei's tourist season is largely determined by the climate. The best times to visit are between March and mid-October every year. Beyond the Mid-Autumn Festival, the northeasterly winds start blowing and gains strength after November. During this time, the strong winds and cold weather is not suited for travel. When visiting Cimei, it's best to plan to stay overnight. This offers plenty of time to visit all the sights, for fishing and for swimming. In the afternoon, you can also take the time to take a stroll around the villages, wander around the island, look at the stars, and experience for yourself the rustic atmosphere and island ambience.

If you are planning to visit Penghu, let Cimei be your first stop. Then, continue on to Wang-an or Penghu proper. Alternatively, visit Wang-an and Penghu first then finish up with Cimei before traveling home by air or ship. As the two-weekend is now well-established, Cimei Township offers an excellent destination for short holidays.
